Our Services
The Housing First requirements in California mandate that supportive services fulfill a number of requirements. These guidance policies closely follow best practices when working with this unique population.
Our Services are informed by a harm-reduction philosophy that recognizes that substance use/ addiction are a part of some tenants’ lives. Tenants are engaged in non-judgmental communication regarding substance use and are offered education regarding safer practices and how to avoid risky behaviors.
We coordinate closely with case managers and other service coordinators who are trained in and actively employ evidence-based practices for client engagement, such as motivational interviewing and client- centered counseling.
Participation in services and Recreational Therapy sessions are not required, but are reviewed with tenants and regularly offered as a resource to tenants. Consistency is key, and incentives help encourage participation. Service goals and plans are highly tenant driven.
Supportive services emphasize engagement and problem- solving over therapeutic goals. We believe that these therapeutic goals are best achieved with the life skills and community engagement achieved through the services we provide.
